A walk down memory lane for mesh 2006

By October 23, 2006mesh news

In case you just can’t get enough of the original mesh — even after listening to all the podcasts and looking through your bulging scrapbook of mesh collectibles — or if you’re trying to get an idea of what it was like, we’ve collected some comments and photo galleries from people who were at the inaugural bash:

  • Publishing 2.0 blogger (and mesh panelist) Scott Karp called it a “smashing success” and did some heroic live-blogging of the event
  • VC blogger and mesh keynote Paul Kedrosky said “kudos to Mark, Matthew, Mike, Rob, and Stuart for a job incredibly well done. Great speakers, wonderfully well organized, and a fresh-feeling format… Guys, you should be very proud.”
  • Jordan Christensen said “Big props out to the organizers. Nice job guys. Do it again. I’ll be there.”
  • PR blogger and author Debbie Weil said “This was one of the best organized conferences I’ve been to, well… in memory,” and added that “If you think the Web 2.0 thinkers, strategists and implementers are all in the U.S., think again.”
  • Mark Kuznicki said “if you were there, you know it was great. If you weren’t there, you missed out on a lot.”
  • co-organizer Stuart appeared on the legendary Inside the Net podcast with Leo Laporte and Amber MacArthur
  • Gagglescape.ca had some great posts on the different sessions.
  • Tamera Kramer said the mesh conference was “by far the best I’ve been to in a long time. The relaxed format and discussions with the audience were perfect.”
  • The Interactive Media Lab live-blogged the session with Om Malik.
  • Albert Lai, CEO of Bubbleshare and mesh panelist, put up a Bubbleshare album of his photos, complete with humorous speech bubbles.
  • CanBlog said that he finds many conferences to be boring “wankfests” but that “I came away from the show energized, inspired and relieved that not everyone thinks I’m insane for my fascination with all of this stuff.”
  • Michael Glenn said “Thanks to Stuart, Rob, Michael, Mark and Matthew for putting on a great event. The presentations served as a great jumping off point for ideas and discussions in the halls, the un-lunch rooms, the bars and the back channel.
  • Sulemaan Ahmed from OneDegree said “it was a great opportunity to network with others” and “the sessions on day one were very productive.”
  • For a “you were there” kind of feel, check out the photos in the Flickr mesh06 pool.
