About Tonya Fleming
Tonya Fleming leads the Innovation in Finance team at the Alberta Securities Commission (ASC), Corporate Finance Division where she works with growing and innovative businesses who are navigating securities laws as they raise capital. She represents the ASC on a number of multi-jurisdictional committees with the Canadian Securities Administrators as policy on novel securities law issues is being developed.
Tonya began her career by practicing law for almost a decade with a national firm, specializing in securities law, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. She then moved into the energy industry where she served as General Counsel and Vice-President of three fast-growing TSX-listed energy companies.
Tonya is an experienced leader, lawyer and governance professional who has extensive experience providing advice and direction to Board of Directors and senior management on effective governance oversight and regulatory compliance.
She currently serves as a Governor and a member of the Audit Committee of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
