About Avery Francis
Avery Francis, a seasoned HR professional turned industry thought leader and entrepreneur, is the driving force behind Bloom, a Black-owned HR and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) design consultancy based in Toronto, Canada.
With a profound commitment to fostering inclusive workplaces, Avery became a prominent figure when she spoke out about her workplace sexual assault, pushing her into entrepreneurship at the height of the #metoo movement. Avery has been challenging antiquated ways of working ever since while advocating for building anti-oppressive workplaces and fundamental systemic change.
In 2018, Avery founded Bloom with a clear vision: to bridge the gap between discussions around DEI and future-forward HR. Bloom’s mission revolves around the belief that work isn’t working for all of us and needs to change.
Avery has advised leading companies like Knix, CAMH, Spotify, Shopify and AirMiles on transforming their work environments.
Bloom takes a systems-first approach, working collaboratively with organizations to achieve their DEI goals while making evolutions to systems that have historically created barriers for our most marginalized communities at work and beyond.
While Avery isn’t advising the world’s best companies, she’s busy sharing her thoughts with her engaged community of 90,000 folks on Instagram and exploring new definitions of success as the host of GirlBoss Radio, which has had over 3M downloads since its inception. Whether online or via Bloom, Avery is on a mission to build workplaces that work for everyone.
