Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Mike Evans

By mesh12

Steadily but surely, the Web is changing the diagnosis, treatment and management of healthcare.

With access to more information than ever before, patients are more knowledgeable than ever. Meanwhile, new technologies are changing how health practitioners do their jobs, and how these services are offered.

In his presentation on May 24, Dr. Michael Evans will give you insight into 21st century healthcare and medicine from the perspective of a doctor who has embraced technology and the spirit of entrepreneurialism.

Earlier this year, Mike and Nick De Pencier put together a video (see below) about the importance of living a health lifestyle that quickly went viral. To date, it has been viewed nearly 2.5 million times.

Early-bird tickets are now on sale for $579, while student tickets can be purchased for $99.

DefineTO: Welcome to Our New Partner

By mesh12

When we started mesh in 2006, one of the biggest reasons was our interest in supporting the local high-tech community by creating a place where people could gather to talk about the exciting things happening online.

While mesh has expanded to become Canada’s leading digital conference, we’ve maintained our focus on helping to nurture and grow the community to make it more successful and vibrant.

This focus is why we’re excited about our new partnership with DefineTO, which shares many of same beliefs we do. With a focus on encouraging peoples’ passion, ambition and success, DefineTO has become an organization that is making the community better.  mesh and DefineTO also have a shared mission to encourage, nurture and celebrate innovation.

In other words, mesh and DefineTO are completely aligned, which is a great way to establish a new partnership.

To celebrate our new partnership and support our friends at DefineTO, we’ll be giving away one FULL mesh conference pass next Thursday at DefineTO – only ANOTHER reason to attend!

Event details:
DefineTO
Date: April 12th
Location:  The Fifth Social Club
The next event supports The Remix Project.

Speaker Profile: Clay Johnson

mesh '12If you’re like me, the Web can become overwhelming from time to time. There is so much content and data coming at you, an inbox that never seems to shrink, and the rat-a-tat-tat of social media banging away day and night.

The question is whether there’s a way to escape all this data and content? Are we consuming too much information and, if so, what are the consequences personally and professionally?

This is one of the reasons we were keen to invite Clay Johnson to speak at mesh this year. His book, The Information Diet, is about how we can develop healthier consumption habits by developing skills and discipline on what to consume and what to avoid.

The Information Diet is a must-read for anyone who consumes a lot of online information or wants to consume information a better and smarter way.

Johnson, the co-founder of Blue State Digital, which built and managed Barack Obama’s online campaign for the presidency in 2008, will be kicking off mesh on the morning of May 23. Early-bird tickets for $589 (a $100 discount) are now on sale.
