You really can’t start mesh without a good pre party. Please join us at the Drake Tuesday (yup- tonight) at 6pm to start the conversation.
We are also opening the voting lines for our six 15MOF finalists. They will be demo’ing in the Village on Wednesday, so you will have an opportunity to check out the technology and meet the people behind the idea.
Here is a bit of each of our finalists’. . .
InGamer is a real-time social game played in conjunction with live sports. The future of media engagement is about amplifying the audience experience by unifying 3-screens in real-time. Play InGamer LIVE with CBC & Hockey Night in Canada at http://starselector.cbc.ca. With 76+ minute Time on Site since launch, the stickiness of the InGamer platform is eye-popping!
Hipsell lets you sell stuff fast and painlessly right from your phone. Your item is posted on Hipsell and Craigslist, and we manage offers and questions for you. We make it fun to sell things.
Lymbix is best known for ToneCheck, the e-mail add-in that checks the tone of your message before you send it. The concept is solid and we know it. (After all, who hasn’t experienced a “say what?” moment after receiving an email message from a boss, colleague or friend that was obviously poorly thought-out.) That said, we’re _so_ much more than an email add-in. We’re often asked: “How do you know that the email tone is ‘off’?” Well my friends: that’s where the magic happens.
Wavo.me is a new service that takes your favorite media sources like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or Soundcloud and extracts all the videos, music and pictures that really matter to you. You can then listen, watch, broadcast and discuss directly on Wavo. The best part is with a click of the mouse you decide which song or video to save to your library where they can be accessed from anywhere at anytime. Our easy to use bookmarklet takes this one step further, allowing you to save and pull content from anywhere on the web. Wavo is your intelligent multi-media library that makes finding and saving cool content easier and more addictive than ever.”
Atomic Reach is a social publishing platform that connects companies and brands looking for high-quality content with the people who create great content every day. It’s an exciting and new concept driven by the belief that content is going to become more important as companies look for new opportunities to engage and provide value to consumers. In simple terms, Atomic Reach helps brands deliver compelling content by tapping into a wide variety of contributors such as bloggers and videographers. For large companies, Atomic Reach offers a powerful and user-friendly content management platform that makes it easy for them to become online publishers.
The benefits: your own team of content producers comprised of your consumers, a platform to manage the people, as well as the content and publishing process, resulting in great content for your web and social media sites every day. The value, more content leads more traffic and greater visibility within your customer base. We also have tools to push your message, offers and promos out onto the web in a cost-effective way, extending the reach of your sales and marketing network.
Padpholio is a user-generated social media portfolio engine for the typical freelancer. padpholio makes you web noticed a lot easier on any search engine and a lot sooner by agencies. Only two more sleeps ‘til mesh11!
As soon as you enter the Allstream Centre and head over to the mesh area, you will see a massive difference in this year’s event. You’ll enter what we call the mesh Village. Consider this the center of action for mesh11 in a similar way that a small town has a downtown core where citizens gather, share news, grab a bite to eat and really connect.
In designing the space, we knew that for a conference where the content is going to be so amazing, we would have to keep up on our end on this front so that we would not disappoint. So, in collaboration with our sponsors, we have created this place that we call The Village. This is not an exhibit side show in any way! Get rid of any notion of chipped tables and balloon arches – (Seriously, I would have lost my job in the first month if I even thought to propose that one!!)
Basically, this space is where we’ll play, connect and share. Be prepared to meet new friends, connect with other meshies, see what’s new & next, enjoy delicious breaks, win cool gear, get presents and drink for free (did I say that out loud?). But that’s just the overview…here is a bit of a sneak peak..
The mesh backchannel by BMO & Entrinsic
Have you ever had a burning question for the keynote presenter, but just wasn’t sure if it was something that you wanted to ask or if maybe others were looking for an answer as well? Or have you ever wondered what others wanted to know? As the mesh gang preps for their sessions they try to think about what you are wanting to know…sometimes we poll on Twitter, but we also wanted to look for other solutions. Then Eli at Entrinsic and his client, BMO, came to us with a solution that was developed by the MIT Research Lab and tailored by Eli’s team specifically for mesh.
Eli Singer, a Partner at Entrinsic, is amazing! Enough said. He’s doing big things with his company- they are leading the way with some amazing clients and he’s really just a passionate guy who works hard to do good business. Entrinsic is hiring and if you want to work with a company that is doing amazing things I’d seek out Eli at mesh11. Eli introduced BMO to our Platform of Sustaining Sponsors this year. BMO is introducing social media on a number of their platforms and we are pleased to welcome them to mesh11. You can thank both BMO and Entrinsic for the delicious breakfast on the Thursday!
Networking Lunches by KPMG
We are so pleased to include KPMG as a Presenting Sponsor at mesh11. They are offering further opportunity for connecting at their Networking Lunches on both Wednesday and Thursday.
KPMG has some excellent things to say on the importance of financial Management and Reporting in Entrepreneurial and Start-Up Companies. They are also offering their time for quick consults. Please connect with them in their lounge area in the village!
Thursday AM Break courtesy of Desjardins
Bonjour mesh11! Desjardins is coming to town with something to tempt your taste-buds. Back again this year as a partner, Desjardin continues to offer us their support and their enthusiasm.
You couldn’t ask to meet a nicer person than Maxime Dubreuil. I encourage you to get to know Maxime and his team as well as the services offered by Desjardins. As the largest cooperative financial group in Canada, they offer payment and financing solutions to companies across Canada. Desjardins is partnering with mesh11 to be closer to the e-commerce community. We hope that you can find a trusted partner in Desjardins in the same way that we have had them as our partner at mesh.
And on top of all that good stuff they are bringing you warm cinnamon buns and fruit smoothies Thursday morning! Bon Appetit!
All Powered Up with Chevrolet
At mesh, no one wants to shut down due to no battery juice. The team at Chevrolet have your back.
Chevrolet Canada is proud to be supporting mesh this year as part of their ongoing efforts to connect with people in new ways and in places that many may find surprising. Chevrolet will be providing attendees with their recharge lounge and an opportunity to see the all-new Chevrolet Orlando, which will be launching later this year. Plus, our own Mathew Ingram and Stuart MacDonald will be zipping around in the Official Vehicle of mesh11: the Chevrolet Cruze, so look for them too. To the mesh-mobile!

Share and Share Alike with AutoShare

Autoshare, the first to introduce car sharing in Ontario and the first with an online reservation system, are also the first to introduce plug-in hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles. We are pleased to have them on board as an Associate Sponsor at mesh11. Make sure to connect with Kevin McLaughlin at mesh11.
Align Yourself with WineAlign
I have to admit, I love wine! WineAlign answers the question: “What wine do I buy?” WineAlign can tell you what the top rated Cabernet is under $25 in stock at your local store, or help find the best wine under $30 to go with your grilled tofu dinner. They review over 20,000 wines annually to help you to avoid marketing gimmicks, save money and find great wines to share and enjoy. Look for Bryan McCaw in the village as he gives away awesome wine totes and even wine!
There is more great stuff happening in the Village. So instead of telling you all at once, I’ve decided tell you a bit more in the next post. I also think that I might save a few surprises for you…
