Ethan Kaplan is the head of all technology over at Warner Bros. Records. This works out well since the two things Ethan loves most in the world are music and technology. At WBR, Ethan’s responsible for all consumer facing web properties, technology initiatives, business development and research/development. Ethan comes from a background of conceptual art, film and technology. Prior to working at Warners, he received two Masters degrees in art from UC Santa Barbara, and pioneered the usage of the Internet in a large newspaper chain in the states. He also, at 16 years old, created the first R.E.M. website. He and Michael Stipe are now good friends. Accordingly, “Almost Famous” is his favorite movie. He blogs at blackrimglasses.com
With just over a week to go before mesh, the last ticket has been sold. It’s amazing to see such an enthusiastic response from the community. To steal a line from Ed Sullivan, we looking forward to putting on a “really big show”. Look for some more mesh announcements about social events and the 15 Minutes of Fame presenters over the next few days.
After a day of mesh keynotes, panels and workshops on May 30, it will be time for some serious socializing. So, we’re having a party at The Boiler House in the Distillery District to keep the conversation going. If you haven’t been there, The Boiler House has been transformed into a wonderful restaurant with lots of room to eat, drink and socialize. The good folks at The Boiler House have offered a free appetizer with your entrée order for your dinner at their great restaurant. Just use the coupon inserted in your mesh bag available at mesh registration, and be sure to make a dinner reservation.
Transportation for mesh guests between MaRS and the party will be provided by Expedia. This is an open event, so please join us whether or not you’re attending mesh. All the details can be found on Upcoming.
See you there!!
