Ibrahim Greenidge

Ibrahim Greenidge, RA, NOMA, AIA, NCARB, co-founded BOLT Architecture in 2012 and serves as its Managing Partner. With over a decade of experience, Ibrahim has overseen more than $150 million in building construction projects. In 2017, he was appointed President of the New York Coalition of Black Architects. His achievements include receiving the 2015 Jumaane Stewart Recognition Award, and his designs have been featured in the UN’s Remembering Slavery Exhibit and the Center for Architecture’s “Say It Loud: Distinguished Black Designers of NYCOBA|NOMA.” In 2017, Ibrahim was named one of Architizer’s Top 20 Distinguished Minority Architects and Designers.

Ibrahim’s architectural philosophy centers on the belief that buildings can heal people. He advocates for an Inhabitants Bill of Rights, which asserts that all people deserve clean water, fresh air, access to live food, and housing that fosters rather than depletes life. He emphasizes co-generative housing, which eradicates housing insecurity and promotes buildings as supportive of both human and environmental well-being. His vision extends to creating universal spaces that cater to people of all abilities, green spaces that improve mental and physical health, energy-efficient buildings, and responsible waste management that protects the environment.

Ibrahim is deeply committed to giving back. He dedicates his time as a mentor, volunteer, career fair attendee, and guest speaker at schools and universities. As a global citizen, he has traveled to four continents and over 20 countries, gaining perspectives that inform his work.
